BITS of AI: New Program for Youth in the Periphery to Study Artificial Intelligence, Led by TAD

In June 2024, the Center for AI at Tel Aviv University (TAD), together with Youth University of TAU, held a ceremony for the 21 students who participated in the first course of the BITS of AI Program, which took place over the past year.
As part of the program, students in grades 7-8 from the periphery of Israel came to Tel Aviv University to learn about machine learning and artificial intelligence. They were introduced to various tools in these fields and discussed the possibilities and risks of using artificial intelligence.
The program heads are Dr. Shiri Stempler (Executive Director at TAD) and Prof. Tal Pupko (Life Sciences and TAD management).
During the course, the students met with various researchers at TAD, including Prof. Galit Yovel (Psychology), Prof. Nadav Cohen (Computer Science), Prof. Oded Rechavi (Life Sciences), and Prof. Tom Schonberg (Life Sciences), who shared their work in the fields of AI and Data Science.
The students also visited Google to meet with industry scientists and explored the VR center at TAU.

At the ceremony, Prof. Meir Feder, the head of TAD, spoke about artificial intelligence and the TAD center's goal of connecting academia with all sectors of Israeli society, emphasizing the importance of education for everyone.
We appreciate the efforts of all the organizers and participants in the first course, as well as the support from Google. The program will continue next year.
