Addressing AI Social Risks Workshop took place on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Tel Aviv University.
The awardees of this joint seed grant program: "Addressing AI social risks" by the Center for AI and Data Science at TAU (TAD) and the Shamgar Center for Digital Law presented their research.
Prof. Meir Feder, head of TAD, and Prof. Niva Elkin Koren, head of Shamgar Center, opened the event. Dr. Shiri Stempler, Executive Director at TAD moderated the workshop.
All presented the important objectives of this funding opportunity for interdisciplinary research teams to address the pressing issue of Artificial Intelligence (AI) social risks. As AI developments continue to advance rapidly, it is essential to understand and mitigate the potential risks it may pose to society. Four interdisciplinary projects received grants :
- Tamar Mayer (Arts) and Udi Sommer (Political Sciences) on "ARTificial Democracies"
- Shir Etgar (Communication) and Gal Ostreicher-Singer (Management) on "Is Chat-GPT's Financial Advice (Unintentionally) Gender Biased?"
- Assaf Hamdani (Law) and Goren Gordon (Industrial Engineering) on "Measuring & Promoting Critical Thinking Regarding Legal AI Decision Support Systems"
- Ran Gilad Bachrach (Bio-Medical Engineering) on "Are Decision-Making “Experts” Immuned from Potential xAI Risks?"
