Prof. Galit Yovel

Psychological Sciences

 

Galit Yovel is a full professor in the School of Psychological Sciences and Sagol School of Neuroscience at Tel Aviv University. She received her PhD in Psychology from the University of Chicago and completed her Post-Doctoral training in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT. In 2005, she returned to Israel and set up the Person Recognition Lab at Tel Aviv University. In her research she combines methods from psychological sciences, neuroimaging and AI face recognition algorithms to unravel the neural and cognitive mechanisms of human face recognition. Her studies also go beyond the face and examine the roles of the body, motion and semantic information in person recognition. Prof. Yovel was the head of Strauss neuroimaging center and the former head of the School of Psychological Sciences.
