I'm a behavioral ecologist and my research focuses on movement ecology of terrestrial vertebrates.
In our lab we explore the factors that affect animal movements, and the consequences of animal space-use patterns. These include evolutionary aspects (e.g. host-parasite interactions and individual fitness), ecological aspects (e.g., population dynamics and species coexistence), and applied aspects (conservation, management and epidemiology).
We typically work with techniques of animal monitoring and tracking (e.g. GPS, RFID, and radio-tags). For theoretical questions we rely heavily on simulations and spatially explicit individual based modeling. For data analysis we use various statistical tools (e.g. model selection approaches, Bayesian statistic, hierarchical mixed-models, and social-network analysis). We are keen to copaborate with quantitative sicentists seaching for key questions in the ecological and behavioral domains.
