Prof. Jeff Hausdorff
Medicine & Sagol School of Neuroscience
Prof. Jeffrey M. Hausdorff, Ph.D., and the research team that he leads aim to better understand, evaluate, and treat gait and balance changes associated with aging and disease.
They place a special emphasis on gait variability, cognitive-motor interactions, freezing of gait, falls in older adults and people with Parkinson's disease, and wearable devices.
His cutting-edge research in these areas has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and by private agencies and has been widely recognized.
In 2013, he received the Gerontology Society of America's Excellence in Rehabilitation of Aging Persons Award, and in 2023, he was awarded the Aufzien Foundation Prize for established researcher in Parkinson’s disease.
His publications have been cited more than 85,000 times, placing him among the more influential scientists.
Prof. Hausdorff and his research team use machine learning tools to better evaluate, understand, and predict age-associated changes and disease progression.
